Participants at the annual NWIPA Summit in Salem, Oregon.

The NWIPA, a collaborative of all eleven NICUs in Oregon and Southwest Washington held its fourth annual meeting at the beautiful Chemeketa Eola in Salem.  Over eighty people, representing multiple disciplines and families from the NICUs, the Oregon Perinatal Collaborative (OPC), the Oregon Pediatric Improvement Partnership (OPIP) and March of Dimes attended.   Henry Lee, MD, of the California Perinatal Quality Care Collaborative was our featured speaker. Other invited speakers included Michael Harris, Ph.D., director of the Novel Interventions in Childhood Healthcare (NICH) program and Rachel Pilliod, MD, from OPC. Topics this year included statewide collaborative quality improvement, family integrated care and quality improvement, health equity and disparities, experience-based co-design and simulation.

Multidisciplinary teams from the participating NICUs met to discuss family integrated care and quality improvement.

Our annual meeting helps identify and catalyze collaborative work we can do together and with our partner organizations to improve health for our babies and families.  We are extremely grateful for the support, funding and in kind support we receive from the March of Dimes, Salem Health, Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, Providence, Northwest Newborn Specialists, Mednax, OPC and OPIP.  Without that, our collaborative work would not be possible.
